Honestly, sometimes you should. If you need one page up this weekend and you enjoy building it yourself, a builder is a reasonable tool, and we'd rather say so than sell you something you don't need. What a builder can't do is make the judgment calls for you. It hands you a template and leaves every real decision up to you: what your homepage leads with, what a first-time visitor needs to see before they'll call, which of your services deserves its own page. That's the work we do with you before anything gets designed. If you'd rather own those decisions yourself, a builder really is cheaper. If you'd rather hand them to two people who'll pick up the phone, that's what you're hiring us for.

Our starting prices cover a straightforward project, meaning the page count and features listed with each package. A few things can move the number up: adding pages beyond what's included, wanting us to write your website copy instead of you providing it, sourcing or licensing custom photography, business cards or other marketing materials, adding features like online booking, payments, or a shop, migrating a large amount of content from an existing site, or a rush timeline. We'll always walk through your specific project with you before quoting a final number, so there are no surprise invoices.

None of this is a fixed menu. If your budget or needs don't quite match what's listed here, reach out anyway, we're happy to talk through what's actually possible and scope something that fits, even if it's smaller than what's shown above.

Yes, this is common and expected. Reach out anytime and we'll scope the addition the same way we scoped your original project: a real quote before any work starts. Since we already know your site and brand, add-on work usually moves faster than starting from scratch.

Once we've talked through your project and agreed on a final price, payment splits into three even parts: a third to get started, a third when you approve the design (before we start building), and a final third at launch. You'll always know the full cost before any payment changes hands.

Yes, and both stay yours, not ours. Your domain is always registered in your name; we're happy to purchase it for you or walk you through it, whichever you prefer. Hosting works the same way: your site lives on a hosting account you control, so you're never locked into us to keep it online. Our Care plans cover what sits on top of that, things like monitoring, updates, and being the person you call when something needs a developer.

Depending on your needs, most Essentials sites can be hosted for free. Growth (WordPress) sites need their own hosting plan, billed to you directly by that host, not us, typically $20–35/mo for a plan with a staging area, which our Growth Care plan uses to test updates safely before they reach your live site. Many hosts advertise a much lower first-year price, so we'll show you the real renewal cost before you sign up.

Timeline depends on scope. We'll give you a real estimate once we understand what you need, during our first conversation. The one thing you can control is how quickly we get your content and feedback: projects move fastest when your text and photos are ready to go from day one, and each round of revisions adds time, so quick turnaround on your end keeps things on track.

We use modern tools, including AI-assisted development, to work efficiently, but every design decision, every word of copy, and every line of code is reviewed by us personally before anything goes live. You're hiring two people who care about getting your site right, not a template generator.
